Please help: blank screen after long hibernation

Hey all, I am having a problem with my HP envy laptop (Windows 8.1 OS), whenever I hibernate my laptop for a long time (7-8hrs) and I try to start up again, the screen is stuck on a blank screen. The laptop starts up BUT the screen display remains blank, I would have to completely turn off the system using the power button and the start it up again for it to display. I started having this problem about 4days ago, I am not sure what the problem is but I would really appreciate some suggestions on how to resolve this issue.

Don't use hibernate mode, it's not recommended.

Sleep Mode is better alternative when you want to avoid a full reboot between sessions.
Your laptop will wake up exactly as you left it without, as in hibernate, dumping RAM contents to the hard drive (that's why hibernate is not recommended).
