Computer can't see WD3200BEVT connected with external drive adapter.

I'm unable to see this as a USB connected drive on my win7 laptop or my Linux desktop. It is visible and readable on an older win7 desktop and I was able to format it NTSC. Why doesn't it show as a connected usb device on the other machines?

What adapter are you using? And what port are you connected to?

If you're attaching to a USB2.0 port, that could potentially be the problem, as it's not guaranteed to be able to provide enough power.

I've had the adapter for quite awhile; it worked fine for the same type of drive as the one I'm using now, and I never had any trouble reading it on a usb 2 port. The weird thing about this is that it comes up ok on the win7 desktop, plugged into its usb2 port, but can't be seen on my other computers. Frustrating!
