Hi everyone my asus z87-A recently died in a wierd way and I was unable to find a solution for it on the forum here so I've decided to give up on it.

Moving on I have a choice of two motherboards the Asus ROG maximus 6 hero or the Ashrock Z97 extreme 6

Which is the better out of these two boards? Thank you.

Thanks Casper yeh you cannot go wrong with them I just wish they put dual bios on that board and more internal usb2 headers after a closer look once I add my AIO CPU cooler I'm not sure if I'm going to have anything left for my case front panel

Then you should look into Gigabyte boards, as many of them have dual bios.
