OK, I bought a Seagate Blackarmor 440 NAS with no drives. I have 4 3TB Seagate drives I assumed would work in it. But if booting with all 4 drives I get an error NoSystemHDDFound. When Booting with just one of the drives I get HasForeignDsk(s) message and it does not come up. Through trial and error I have been able to once get it to boot and format a drive. I then tried to add the drives one at a time only getting to the last drive and it resetting back to the same errors. It doesn't bring up the web server so I can't connect remotely. Is there a trick to getting this guy up?

Solution
You will need to follow the following steps starting on page 16 of the BlackArmor NAS 440 User Guide:

1. Use ethernet cable included in the kit to connect the BlackArmor server to a switch or
router on your local network. Connect the Ethernet cable to port 1.

2. Use the power adapter included in the kit to connect the BlackArmor server to a grounded power outlet. The server powers on automatically and the LED lights on the front panel of the server illuminate. The LCD screen shows the start-up progress.

3. Insert the installation CD into your computer. The installation wizard opens automatically. Install both BlackArmor Discovery and BlackArmor Backup unless you are already using another backup software program.

4. Click Next...

So, is there a download to get this for the BlackArmor 440 NAS? In looking at Seagate Doc, no where does it mention creating a bootable hard dirve. Also the fact I got it to boot one time without having this would lead me to believe it has bootable SD type RAM within the unit.

I'm trying to get to this point. The web server is not accessible on the NAS. I can telnet to it, but no response for HTTP or HTTPS, The reset tool uses HTTP://<IP Address>/reset-string but this doesn't work

4. Click Next

5. Click Next to accept the default installation location; or, click Browse to select a custom location, then click Next.

6. Click Next to accept the default program folder name; or, enter a custom name, then click Next.

BlackArmor Discovery is installed.

7. Click Finish.

There are then steps below that for connecting to the Server.

Also, if you don't have the CD with BlackArmor Discovery, here is a link for how to get the software.
