I recently upgraded my cpu and cpu from I5-6400 to I7-7700 and gtx 950 to gtx 1060 and i switched them fine but after trying out few games i noticed that mu cpu fan is always at 100% and even when i set it to quiet from bios it still starts going nuts whenever i play a game more that 4minutes also my bios setting only have one option for it and thats to choose the cooling type nothing else but its not workin. Help me please

Ok first, what cooler do you have. Is the fan for it plugged into CPU_FAN fan header on your mobo?
When you go into bios, it should be automatically set to right settings for that fan header (pwm, temp/rpm curve to respond to cpu temperature sensor). What is your mobo model?
Second, get hwmonitor and actually monitor your temperatures. If they shoot up high even on idle, it's time to take off the cooler, clean and then re-apply thermal paste and mount it again.

Yes it is plugged in cpu_fan header and the cooler is the stock one that came with the cpu. My mobo is GA-H170M-D3H. Also i did monitor my cpu temps and they were at most 45°. Where can i find those settings in my mobos bios?

45C on idle is a lot. 45 when doing things like watching videos and opening various applications or even light gaming is fine. With any heavier gaming they'll be higher. Get hwmonitor to watch them more carefully. Also to see how fast that fan is spinning.
Keep in mind 7700k is a chip that is pretty hot. Trying to cool it with a stock cooler isn't really going to work. You're going to need a decent third party cooler to keep that chip at decent temperatures. Here's a nice list:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-cpu-coolers,4181.html
Go for something with a bit of oomph for a decent price like CM's masterair pro 4 or scythe's mugen, or cryorig H5 or H7.
Make sure it fits inside your case before you get it.

As for where it is in your bios, I don't really know what your bios looks like so it's hard to tell, but if the cpu cooler fan is plugged into cpu_fan header and it's spinning, sometimes lower, and sometimes at 100%, it's likely it's configured ok. That being said if you go into fan settings in your bios, you should be able to see it.

Thanks for your help. Im going to look in to it more tomorrow and maybe buy a new cooler. Can i be sure that the coolers fit intonthe mobo? And also its not i7 7700k but the non overclockable version 7700. Is the intel stock cooler really that bad?

Yeah it would suggest overheating but you say you're watching the temps and they don't climb too high? Are you watching it in hwmonitor while under load? Did you get that cooler with 7700 or with the previous cpu?

I got the fan with the cpu in the same package. And yes the temps when idle were 20-30 and gaming it sometimes peaked to 40+ but never really higher than that

Then you should be fine. Leave the cooler as is, forget about the third party coolers.
It might be just the fan curve is a little too steep. Silent mode wasn't working out for you either you say. If you select manual does it just give you one fixed speed you set it on or actual curve/range for different temps?

I tried tampering with the curve but it resulted in the same outcome that when i start playing the fan jumps to 100 even tho its not breaking the temperatures i set. I was also afraid of making it custom since i have little knowledge on what to set it as

If you don't have many options from bios, maybe a utility from gigabyte that you load in windows can give you more. I've looked for your mobo:
https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-H170M-D3H-rev-10#support-dl
and it does list some. I'm not sure if it's easytune or system information viewer or something else, but one of them should give you a little more sophisticated tuning ability of that fan. Lemme check some of these.

Yeah looks like easytune does it:

You should be able to drag those points on the curve with your mouse to adjust. If it's still not responding properly then it could be either something with the fan itself, or maybe something with the fan header.
What you set it to isn't really set in stone. You want when under high load temps at around 60-65C ideally, or even higher if the noise is bothering you. On idle it should be in 30s

Yeah about that i did download SIV but i cant get it open at all it should be the go to when trying to tune the fan. Im not sure why it doesnt work. Since other gigabyte add ons did launch.

Yeah ill check that one out but now i must get some sleep. Ill keep you updated and maybe add some pictures from cpu temps and such and try to work it out from there if my information was incorrect. Thaks alot

Also i just installed the parts today could it be that they work normally tomorrow?

Well since you just installed, you're going to be seeing different temps and fan speeds, but it's still odd it's sitting at 100% fan speed for a temp of 45C. It's even odder that SIV won't open for you. It could be maybe it can't access some info in bios and then aborts? It could be there's a problem with that particular version? Don't know. This may require contacting gigabyte but one of these utilities should function for you.

Maybe ill reset my bios setting since i did just switch the cpu i dont know if that will change thing but i will also check that the fan is plugged in to the correct place and see if nothing changes

No, it's a good idea. Reset bios. Hardware changes are known to mess up whole windows installations. I was just in another thread where the guy has to completely reinstall his system cause cpu change corrupted things completely so might as well. If it doesn't help I'd try even updating bios (but do this carefully according to manufacturer's instructions. Doing it incorrectly can brick your board).

I already updated bios to the latest version before switching cpu since it wouldnt have supported it otherwice so i cant update it anymore but at least i know for sure that its the correct version.

Updates. Ive reseted bios and tried downloading bot gigabyte apps but neither one of them wants to open up so i have no fan controll on desktop only in bios and the problem still persists.

Crap. And windows reports no errors on repair?
I would at this point try asking gigabyte about it. If it's not letting you install, something is wrong, and they might have seen this before.
The only other thing is a fresh reinstall of windows as that usually fixes any issues that arise due to a change in hardware. But that's a last resort option.
