I have noticed that the majority of cheaper PC's have been built with AMD CPU's and the more expensive PC's have been built with Intel CPU's. Is there any reasoning behind this? Both Intel and AMD make higher and lower end CPU's so in theory I should see both types of CPU's whether the computer is 2000$ or 500$

Solution
It's mostly about bang for your buck but also the performance you expect to get at a given price point. On the lower end AMD is a good buy but on the higher end where you are spending serious money Intel still pulls ahead in raw performance so people default to them even if bang for your buck wise AMD might be a better deal.
