Hello I live in an area that my only internet option is a hotspot, I am looking for the best device to convert the wireless from it to wired Ethernet. i have an asus rt-n12d1 which has a repeater mode but there is no way to just use it as a bridge, its always broadcasting the wifi which cuts the speed down if I understand that correctly

whats the best or any recommended devices for what I am looking to do

You should be able to use a switch behind. Some have a limitation on the total number of mac addresses they support but the number tends to be larger than most people would ever need.
What you are looking for is called a client-bridge. Many of the so called range-extenders can run in that mode since it is the first half of a repeater.

It is strange that you can not turn off the wireless repeater function in your device, most the devices I have seen have a option to run it only as a client-bridge rather than a repeater.

Used to be easy to get client-bridge devices since they were used to hook up tv and game consoles that only had ethernet ports. Now days you only see the so called range-extender devices. I suspect it pretty much costs the same to make a simple clinet-bridge as it does to make a range-extender.

The ones I use mostly are used for outdoor use from ubiquiti. They will work indoors but you should be able to use the more common range-extenders just look through the manual before you buy it to see if it has a client-bridge mode.

...generally a USB wireless nic will be a simpler solution unless the device HAS to be only ethernet.

I looked high and low for the option to turn off the repeater and it doesnt seem to be an option in the GUI, I ordered a tp link AP,bridge, extender, i think this will do what you suggested above, when using it as a bridge, can you plug it into a switch for more ports?
