I have a 16GB flash drive I use for a live image of Kali Linux. I recently tried to add persistence to it, but it didn't work. When I tried to plug the USB into my PC to try again. It breaks

When I plug it in, my taskbar keeps flashing like it's being reloaded. Windows keeps chiming over and over again while it's plugged in like I'm unplugging it and plugging it back in. When I try to format it, the process can't finish because it keeps disconnecting.

This is the only flash drive I have, and I'm broke as f***, so I want to try to fix it.

Any ideas?

1) Try a different USB connection
2) Try a different computer

If the problem exists on both computers the USB stick is probably defective.

BTW, my USB sticks always have issues when I do certain things such as create a Linux distro. I can't seem to FORMAT them later. Every time I want to do this I'm forced to do fix with a tool called HDD Low Leve Format Tool

http://hddguru.com/

(download, run tool, use "free" version path, do full low level format)

I just started the format and it keeps saying "Format error occurred at offset _______: 121 Device not ready"
Is that normal?
