Using a DDR4 1x8gb 2400Mhz with DDR4 8x4 2666Mhz

Hi,

I just bought a wrong DDR4 8gb 2400Mhz memory stick for my laptop and I want to know if I can use it for my work computer. It is equipped with an Asus X99 Deluxe II and has already 4 DDR4 8gb at 2666Mhz.

Can I use the new 8GB or would it pe pointless ?? Btw I need a lot of ram cause I'm doing heavy video editing

LT and desktop memory dont even look the same and will not fit into both.
If you bought desktop memory for your LT you can try it but it probably won't work.

Yeah, what I meant by wrong memory stick was the fact that I bought a memory stick for desktop computer. That's why I'm asking

being different speed (slower than you have) it's probably not going to work. If your memory is running 2666 then that is what it would try to run that stick at with the same timings.
