Are 4 cores endangered: Intel Core i5 7600 or Intel Core i5 8400?

Solution

"Most" games don't utilize all 6 cores, most of them don't even utilize all 4 cores, so it depends on your budget, can you afford the extra $40 for the 8400? If so then yea get it, and are you using this for just gaming or will you be using it for any workstation needs? If you need to for any content creation I would go with the 8400 (Preferably get an I7 tho because of the extra threads)

May be currently not all games use 6 core, but since intel has started doing, so may be in future games will exploit. This is my belief.

That's why I asked. Nevermind I am not hardcore gamer, i ll use my rig for programming.

I honestly would hope that games in the future use as many cores as they can, the preformance boost in my opinion would be amazing if they did, if it were able to utilize all cores on ryzen processors i honestly thinks the games would run smoother. Unfortuantly as of right now games don't... most use for anything more than 4 is usually for workstation needs like content creation, compiling, ect.
