Average performance with Destiny 2

System specs:

Nvida GTX1070 8GB
Intel Quad Core i7 2600k 3.4ghz
16GB RAM
Windows 7 64-Bit
Resolution: 1920x1080

On High settings, performance is all over the place: goes as high as 120FPS and low as 35. Wasn't this supposed to a very optimized game?

I think maybe the i7-2600k is starting to show it's age. I have a 1070 just like you paired with an i5-4690k @ 4.0GHz but I play on a 2560x1440 144Hz Gsync monitor. Even though I am playing at a higher resolution than you with the same GPU I am getting between 100 FPS and 120 FPS depending on what is happening on screen. I have never seen dips to 35 FPS like you are describing.

Before you go get a new CPU you should try tweaking the settings though. I just let GeForce Experience optimize the settings for me since I had friends waiting for me to play. It set my AA to SMAA and all settings to high or highest. There are a few settings on high instead of highest and that might be contributing to the performance difference we are seeing.
