I recently bought a new PC and it stutters EA games like BF1 or star wars battlefront, to the point where it is unplayable. I clean it pretty much every week so i know it doesn't need a clean. Also i see many benchmarks and people with the same setup get better framerates on these games, i get nowhere close to what other people seem to be getting.

PC Specs:

i5 6400

GTX 1070 8Gb

H110M-R Motherboard

8Gb Crucial DDR4

DREVO 60Gb SSD

WDC 1Tb

These are the main parts, i know the motherboard isnt the best in the world which could be the issue but i dont know, any ideas?

Edit - i also get some micro stuttering on other games like H1Z1, PUBG etc

I was going to upgrade months ago, but my friend has pretty much the exact same setup as me and gets around 80-90fps at all times

i mean i get like 60-70fps on bf1 the thing is it micro stutters so badly, i would usually notice a spike in cpu usage with micro stuttering but surprisingly i dont. oh well thanks anyway i guess

If you look at your cpu usage it cant keep up the 6400 doesnt even meet minimal specs on the cpu side the minimal is 6600k

you can argue the point all you want but your not going to make it not stutter check minimal CPU specs for BF!

I mean... I'm only complaining because it used to run fine (should probably of mentioned that) Star Wars battlefront 2 runs much easier than battlefront 1 when i used to get like 100fps on battlefront 1... I'm just frustrated about the performance i used to get a couple months ago compared to what i get now. Not sure if its something with a recent update or what but it never used to stutter the way it does now, but I've been wanting an upgrade for a while now. Would you suggest a ryzen 7 1800x or an i7 7700k, I'll also upgrade my ram to 16gb, it would help with many other things not just games

I would just suggest either 6700k or 7700k(needs a bios update ) you will run faster than any ryzan for half the price makes sure you have a good cooler

You dont need a new board besides the 7700k is on par with the 6700k save your money

Connor, as for your setup: PRETTY MUCH the same or the SAME?

Checking your power plan settings in windows and your power settings in the BIOS may be helpful.

Dumping some services and programs may help, as does disabling a lot of windows 10 "helpful" features.

It's also helpful to use NVidia Profile Inspector to set some limits for your video card, either globally or on a per-title basis.

If you have questions on the above, please don't hesitate to ask.

I have disabled the windows 10 features and my power plan is on high performance, as for the setup my friend has 32GB of ram as apposed to my 8GB. Which again could be why i stutter and he doesnt.
