Destiny 2 and other games causing a lot of CPU Usage

Hi all,

Hoping someone can help here. So, I have been noticing certain FPS drops and lag spikes within most pc games, but nothing compared to what I’m experiencing with destiny 2. I had this problem in the Destiny 2 beta as well, every time I open a menu, or speak to an NPC, or get killed, or hover over my equipment in game the game drops to about 5FPS however the in-game fps counter stays at around 55FPS. So i thought that i would check my Task manager and see what’s struggling, and it was my CPU, in fact without doing anything in game destiny 2 was consistently using over 50% of my CPU (https://imgur.com/a/PMqtp).

Thought this was strange so i asked my 2 friends who have the same CPU (one of them has the same computer build as me) and they record their destiny 2 using at most around 20% of the CPU. Not entirely sure what’s going on here but I’m hoping someone can give me some guidance on why I’m getting these lag spikes and why my CPU usage is so high, and my friends are having no problems what so ever.

PC Specs:
Motherboard: Asus M5A97
CPU: AMD FX-8350
GPU: ASUS Radeon RX 480
RAM: 16GB DDR3
OS: Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

P.S. Sorry if I’ve posted this in the wrong place and also sorry if I’ve missed any info you need in the post

Hi,
No you posted in the right place, so chill buddy! :)
I can see some open programs in the task manager picture and to get a better picture which specific programs are using your CPU, check the performance tab in task manager (it is just beside the processes tab).
It seems some unwanted programs are taking up CPU usage and you need to precisely identify them and stop the same, at least when you are gaming. Also, do a Virus scan to be sure that no Malware or Spyware is functioning in the background.
