I recently discovered my board is throttling my cpu, apparently the "LE" version of this board does not have VRM heatsinks. I plan on upgrading to a ryzen cpu in the future but am holding off on upgrading till prices drop a bit, what would be the best "Asus" board for under 100$ that would work with both the ryzen series and fx series? Also the VRM heatsink is a must lol!

Yeah, the M5A97 is a piece of junk. You might be able to get away with stick-on VRM heat sinks and putting a fan over them.

Here's a good list:

You want something with 6+2 or 8+2 VRMs

Sabertooth 990FX 8+2 Yes 140W Yes Yes Unknown Yes - throttling 8-pin ATX Digi VRMs
ROG Crosshair V Formula 8+2 Yes 140W Yes Yes Unknown Yes - throttling 8-pin ATX Digi VRMs
M5A99FX PRO R2.0 6+2 Yes 140W Yes Yes Unknown 8-pin ATX Digi VRMs
M5A99X EVO (R2.0) 6+2 Yes 140W Yes Yes Unknown Yes - throttling 8-pin ATX Digi VRMs
M5A97 EVO/PRO 6+2

I believe the "Gaming" Asus 970 board does too.

There are no motherboards that will work with both CPUs.

My suggestion, save your money to buy yourself the Ryzen/AM4 motherboard/DDR4 ram combo. Don't waste your money on another motherboard for that crap cpu.

I do not think so, but I am no expert on amd.
I do, however thing that the suggestion above to use stick on heat sinks is a cheap solution with reasonable expectation of doing better.
Something like these:

Agreed. You could disable turbo boost in the meantime and reduce the likelihood of throttling. Or set the max speed to 4.0.
