So im buying a gaming pc with the specs of the following

I7 7700K
H100I V2
16GB DDR4 RAM 3000
ASUS ROG STRIX Z270E GAMING
ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1080
750W 80+ Gold PSU

my question is i plan on using the computer for gaming but when im asleep to mine, iv never done it before and im not looking to make all the money back but just money in general. i only plan on mining for about 7-10 hours a day, just for a little side money to help pay for general necessities.

Should i even consider it?
Will i even make profit?
How do i find my kW/h?

just trying to learn about this if anyone has any inside or experience id appreciate the knowledge.

Solution

What specific research have you done to show this potential profit?

i took my towns current kW/h cost which is 13.45 cents and then took the estimated hash rate that a gtx 1080 has shown at a base clock speed and found out that running the miner for a day would get me about $1.64 a day thats running at 24/7 so i took $1.64 and divided it by 24 "24 hours in a day" and got $0.689 per hour profit. i know it doesnt seem like a lot but it adds up to $50 a month. this was made to kinda see if anyone had a similar setup and what there hash rates are, so i can get a more accurate number,

you need at least 5 GPUs running to start earning. one GPU is nothing.

and you will need to factor in the hardware price as well , for mining reduces the GPU life alot.
