I7-7700k or coffee lake i7-8700k

so i am building a pc and wanted to know if i should spend 400 and wait for the coffee lake i7 8700k or spend 330 and get the i 7700k. but i really wanted a 6 core processor. please tell me also if there is a processor that is as good as or better than the i7 7700k and i7 8700k that is 6 cores. and preferably intel. and also it would have to be an lga 1151 socket

Gaming at what Hz? At 60Hz both of those CPU's is way more than you need for todays games. For 144Hz or more the 8700k is a bit better but the 7700k or 8600k do an excellent job. If money is not a problem and aiming for high Hz gaming the 8700k is the best choice but if you need to save a little money the 8600k would be my second choice.
