Hey guys,

I just recently put together my first pc, and its running great. Only issue I am having is I am having a fair amount of difficulty gaining a stable wifi connection. Unfortunately, a hardline connection will not be an option for me for at least a few more months. I am not having much trouble playing games, but simple things like web browsers take an exceptionally long time to load. I have a gigabyte ab350 gaming 3 mother board, so there is no on board wifi. To supplement, I bought a Rosewill AC1300 dual band Pci express card, and am thinking that the issues may be with the card, as my wifi is fine on my other devices when they are in the same area. When googling about gaining better wifi signal, it gives me stupid answers like reboot the router, move closer to the router, etc.. I was wondering if there was anything I could change in regards to my network, the cards settings/drivers, additional software, extra hardware(boosters, extra router), or anything on the technical side that could give me an extra boost. The most cost effective method would be appreciated, as most of my recent funds are tied up in the build itself. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

P.S.
ISP is Comcast, 2.4 GHz. currently on channel 6, a fair number of devices are connected to the network, but most of the time they are not at the house when I am using my PC. average download and upload speed are both in the 17 Mbps range.

Edit: additional info, router is in the room directly one floor above my setup.

Solution
Powerline
I have seen those, but what exactly do they do?
well as long as you are one the same ring main say the upstairs of the house then rather than using cat 5-6 to make a network it use's parts of the mains cable to send your connection to the other powerline adaptor and makes you all networked up in a couple of minutes
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oxum9TZ11-M a bit old but the general idea

how would I go about changing it? I am able to preview network settings from the computer, but not edit them. would I have to go through my online ISP page?
