How can I keep my phone plugged in without charging?

So I use my iphone 5c a lot with usb tethering because where I live my unlimited 4g lte connection strangely works better than my Spectrum cable connection. I use USB tethering and the problem is that I don't like keeping my phone battery at 100% all the time. I was wondering if there was I way I can set it to only charge to like 90% or something along those lines. Thanks!

I have a USB hub where my devices refuse to charge unless the USB hub's separate power connector is plugged in. Maybe take a look at eBay for one and use it without external power.

I haven't heard of any iOS or windows software that prevents charging. Only in android devices.
I would take a look at the BIOS as well to see if there are any interesting options.

Just throwing out another idea...The USB has 4 pins, 2 for data and 2 for power. If you somehow blocked the power pin...

True, I might give the blocking pins a try but then the battery would fall and I'd have to keep charging it somehow. I feel like using a USB hub for this would add enough middleman that it would just be work using wireless tethering instead.
