Eliminate high ping?

Hey guys,
I've been playing a mobile game from my phone and experiencing terrible lag and high ping.

The problem is that the server is located in a Virginia and I'm in Oregon. Aside from moving to a closer location, is there any way to reduce this lag? Is it possible to maintain a decent connect while being this far from the server? Would a VPN be helpful? Any suggestions/advice would be great.

It is highly unlikely your problem is the distance to the server. Games that are designed to be played online...rather than a LAN game....have no issue with a 100ms of latency.

In your case it depends on if you are using wifi or the mobile broadband data plan. Wifi you might get better results by changing the channels on the router. Mobile broadband you can do little about lots of things cause lag in those network the telco is in complete control.
