I bought this cheap pc like 3 months ago and its amazing runs fine and is good but after 1 month of playing my csgo started crashing the pc started crashing and I found out my graphics card is overheating, I dont know why bcs I tried making my room cooler, I gave the pc more space and I have my case opened and my gpu fans are running 100% and still when I play like 1 - 2 h of csgo its crashes .. sometimes it just shuts csgo and I cant open it and I have to logout sometimes the screen turns grey with stripes and then black and the sounds go on a loop and then I have to restart my pc ..
its so frustrating to play when I know its soon going to crash and I have gotten like 5 bans alredy bcs of this .. and I cleaned my pc twice and then I removed the gpu and cleaned it .. and the last owner said he put new "Paste" or what ever it is before he sold the pc to me ... I dont know alot about pcs .. and I definitely dont have to money or nolege to buy a new graphics card ..

2 weeks later : I bougth new thermal paste and the pc was fine and I played like 5 days without any crashes and now it does it again .. so I checked the thermal paste and put new paste again and I played 1 day and it started to do it again .. I can play longer than before but its still really annoying ! But the thing I dont get is that it crashes when the gpu get to 60 - 70 c and Thats not even hot ! I have no idea anymore and I really hope I dont have to buy new 200 dollar graphics card .. so if you can help ... help

Solution
The pea method is just a means to make sure you don't end up with too much. It is not a minimum. In fact a full pea would be far too much and act as insulation and compromise cooling.
Can you move more air towards the card or evacuate the air closer to it? Both would reduce the ambient temps around the card and should help you solve your overheating.

When you put the thermal paste in, did you go with the thinnest application possible? Thermal paste is supposed to be very thin.

I don't think I can :/ I have 2 pc fans 1 in 1 out then gpu ,cpu and power supply fans ,I think I put the right amount but I can try to put less ,Most people recommended the pea method but should I try something else ?

Little update .. after changing the thermal paste and removing the cover it worked like 3 days and at 1 point I played 3 hours straight and nothing no crashing or anything .. and now for some weird reason I played 10 minutes and it crashed then again 10 minutes and crash and again .. I haven't changed anything the room temp is the same all settings same and still it just started crashing .. I just can't understand why it does this .. the fans are spinning over 4000 rpm and the room is pretty cool and still it starts crashing for no reason.

Could the fan/heatsink not be firmly attached? (could it have vibrated slightly loose)? 10 minutes means it is not cooling as it should, but your environment seems to be a good one.

I know you said money is tight, but do you have the possibility to replace the video card? It is around 7-8 years old. Most computer parts have a much shorter lifespan than this. A 1050ti (for example) beats a 6970 (several models higher than your 6900) and costs around 140-170. Even a lower end card would be faster for you. If you are in the USA you can find graphics cards of the same age as yours for less than $50 bucks on craigslist and ebay.

yeah I was looking new graphics card few days ago and came to same conclusion as you gtx 1050 ti was the best option I found ! And I saw some people underclocking their gpus and I dont't know if I even did it right but I put the clockspeed lower and it didn't crash when I tested it ! ill try to test it more but if this keeps going ill just have to buy new gpu ! Thank you so much for your help ! you really helped me a lot !
