I'm running a i5 7600k stock speeds have not yet overclocked it. anyways I'm also using a asus maximus 8 hero motherboard. and I'm cooling the cpu with a corsair h60 liquid cooler. my temps playing battlefield 1 on ultra for a little while get to max of 49c to 50c is that pretty good? also does everyone here think I can get proper cooling from the corsair h60 if I decide to overclock? which I most likely will.

Solution
OCCT is one of many testing apps.

Auto will not hurt you, but yes, if you get into maximum tweaking, it might be a bit different from optimum.
How it works will differ by motherboard.

When you reach your desired OC, I also suggest implementing speedstep and adaptive voltage.
That will reduce your multiplier and vcore when the cpu has little to do.
I think you are good.

BF1 seems to really stress the cpu.

While H60 is not a great cooler, certainly you can overclock some.
You will probably run out of safe vcore(1.4v) before you run into thermal limits.
85c. might be a good target.
100c. is the point where the cpu will slow down or reduce speed to protect itself.

FWIW:
As of 12/04/2016
What percent can get an overclock at a somewhat sane 1.40v Vcore.

I5-6600K

4.9 14%
4.8 38%
4.7 67%
4.6 87%

I was thinking to overclock to 4.7 ghz and 1.28v. what do you think?

what voltage should I start off with at a 4.7 ghz overclock?

I would leave the voltage on auto, gradually raise the multiplier and see what you get.
Test with OCCT which will shut the test down if you reach 85c.
Monitor your vcore with cpu-Z.

No doubt OC experts can get more with more esoteric methods looking for a record overclock.
If you are into that, research some 6600K OC guides.

what is occt? and I heard that the voltage is set to high when using the auto feature, is that true?
