I am trying to get my new speakers to play sound from my PC through the optical port (its TOSlink is how its called i think). I have updated my driver and tried changing the playback device to make sure that wasn't the issue. I know from testing the speakers work, and my usb based headphones work okay so sound is being produced. Any ideas on how i can get this working?

My motherboard is an Asus Z87-Pro.

What am i suppose to be looking for in the bios to change, and what's it suppose to be? My knowledge of the Bios is pretty basic.

i tried the bios, front panel type had nothing about SPDIF, but another just below had that on so i think thats right. As for the Realtek HD Audio manager, i checked to make sure i have it installed but i am unable to run it. When i try the only thing that comes up is a window that displays information or will only let me update or disable the reltek driver, how do i run the audio manager?

I have also tried updating and reinstalling the realtek Audio manager and i can't get it to open. I also tried running the audio troubleshoot program built into windows and when it runs it says nothing is plugged in.

The port i am plugged into with my TOSlink is on the rear panel, as for whether there is a header like that i would need to check my mobo.

there is a spdif header on my MOBO, but i am pretty sure nothing is connected to that, i will try to order something and see how that works, but thats not gonna arrive for a while.
