Issues With Razer Tiamat 7.1 v2

I know this seems like a popular thread. I recently purchased Razer Tiamat 7.1 v2s and a SoundblasterX Ae-5 soundcard and the sound quality is atrocious. I've done a lot of internet browsing for solutions and have no had any luck. I've watched my fair share of videos to know which ports on the rear of the soundcard are which. I'm fairly confident I have them inserted correctly. But the headphones on 7.1 sound horrible and hollow. No bass and sometimes has static when moments involving bass happen. I've also got Soundblaster Connect 2 installed and running. Set to headphones and virtual 7.1. Tweaking settings literally doesn't give the headset any better sound quality at all. Suggestions please? $350 is a lot to be listening to trash imo.

did they ever sound right? they may be defective.
do other headphones/speakers work fine? if another set of speakers or headphones work fine then the issue is not the sound card.
