Hi i am about to buy an SSD (120GB) but im not willing to fresh install Windows 10 on the new SSD and i have already tried deleting files to make the HDD match the SSD storage but im out of ideas,

I need the SSD to game for specific games that render in objects as you progress for example: Skyrim , PUBG.

I was wondering if installing these games to the SSD while keeping the OS on the HDD will still able to make a difference to ingame loading times and rendering etc.

If this is not possible could anyone help me on how to fresh install windows 10 in depth on my new ssd thanks :D

Solution

yes.
Because the game is loading from the SSD. The only thing that would be "slow" still is steam itself.

If it is just the games (Steam) that you want to keep on the HDD, you can still do a clean install of Win10 on the SSD. Here's how...
Once the SSD is installed and recognized, install W10 to it. Make sure Steam is not running. Then delete everything on the HDD except for the Steam folder. Next, delete everything in the Steam folder except for the SteamApps & Userdata folders and Steam.exe. Then run steam.exe and it will rebuild itself on the HDD letting the OS now know where the stuff resides.

The process is similar to 'moving Steam' to a new location, except you are not physically moving it.
