How ping affect in different games?

Hey everyone,

I play different games during my entire life and I couldn't help but notice that lag doesn't affect in the same way for all of them.

For example, being in South America, I used to play a lot in North America's PUBG servers. Ping was noticeable (130-150 ms), but playable 100%. Not the kind of lag that won't even let you move, open doors, pick up items or shoot. Sometimes you get killed before you actually seen the player that shoots you, but that's the 100 ms of difference between me, the server and the other player.

Anyhow, this is not even similar in CS:GO, where I also played in both South America and North America servers with 35-50 ms and 140-150 ms respectively. Same ping difference than PUBG (and exactly the same server locations) but strongly noticeable in gameplay. The teleporting and micro ping spikes where your game freezes for a few seconds are common things.

Same thing than PUBG happens in other games such as Paragon, LoL, Dota, and others.

So, what is it that makes some games worst than others to handle ping between server and client? Any ideas?

Thanks :)

The more fast paced the game the more important is to have a low ping.

So moba games for example being so slow you don't really notice the lag effect, it's very minimal.

While shooters are the most fast paced games certainly PUBG, BF1 etc aren't as skill demanding as CSGO, hence you don't feel in those as much impact like in CSGO.

Beyond that is also the network coding in each game, pubg / ark will show you the enemy almost "client sided" so you get a fluid visual experience, however due to latency is very likely that enemy is not really there causing you to not hit him. CS series instead show you their actual position which given to latency differences it might be needed to be "teleported" or with a "stuttered" movement in order to...
