Around a year or two ago, I got my brother's Lenovo h50 (in which I gamed on). At the time I knew almost nothing about computers and never cared of upgrading. I wasn't until around the end of 2016 that I gave interest.I started to transform it into something stronger as games I started to play became more demanding. The only parts I wanted to keep from the h50 was an i7 4790(not k) with stock cooler, 12 gb (1600) ram and a Western Digital 1tb. Since January I bought an Evga 1060 3gb, Nzxt s340, Evga 500w bronze, and a used Asus Q87m-e/csm. I moved the components into the Nzxt s340 yesterday and tried to boot up bios this morning. I turned the computer on and to my luck, the mobo showed it was getting power, the leds were on and all fans were spinning, (gpu too). I plugged an Hdmi cable from my moniter to my computer and the keyboard. I turned my computer on and spammed delete...there was no display. I switched to a DVI, and tried other diagnostics.
I would love help, parts are in bold.

Solution

OK,

Remove the graphics card from the PC and plug the monitor into the MB directly.

Go in and set the bios to defaults if you get graphics.

Then check and see if there are any BIOS updates for the MB and update it.

As I switched the HDMI to the Mobo, I realised that when I pressed cap locks on accident, the identifier didn't turn a light on as it usually does when you press caps lock or number lock. I switched out my keyboard for my brother's that glows colors when turned on. When I stick the usb into 2.0 jack, it lit up when pushed half way in and turned off when pushed all the way in. The same happened with the 3.0 jack. I tested both keyboards on my laptop and they worked fine. The caps lock lit up and my brother's keyboard lit up when pushed all the way in. This means the usb jacks are broken or something. Maybe this is the reason bios didn't show, as spamming the delete button on a dysfunctional keyboard wouldn't do anything.
Any thoughts of why?

Used MB?

Try this.

Unplug the PSU from the power.

Remove the battery and let it sit for a few mins, put the battery back in.

Plug the PSU back in and turn it on.

I did what you said. The computer shows that there's power but the monitor shows no signal.

When I turn on the computer (after shutdown) what am I supposed to look for. Will something appear after I start it up, or am I supposed to spam my keyboard and wait a sec until asus bios ez pops up?

If there is no signal then there is nothing you can really do at this point.

You can try another monitor cable.

No video normally means a bad motherboard when it's plugged into the motherboard.

And you said the ports aren't working either, never a good sign.

So at this point a new MB would be needed.

Try and get a NEW motherboard, as in new in box.

You can still find good NEW LGA 1150 motherboards at reasonable prices.

Okay thanks for your help

Probably needs a BIOS update. It needs BIOS 1102 to support that CPU

Core i7-4790 (3.6Ghz, 4C, HT, L3:8M, HD Graphic, 84W, rev.C0) ALL 1102

*Before using the new Intel 4th Gen Core processors, we suggest that you first download the BIOS updater for new Intel 4th Gen Core Processors and then update the BIOS using this tool.

If the sticker on the mobo (the last 4 numbers on it) dont say 1102 or higher, thats the prob. It wont turn on or post

Only way you'll fix it, is whatever those numbers are, you'll have to buy or borrow a CPU that supports those numbers

CPU supported list

Or take it to a shop and ask them to install a supported CPU flash the BIOS then install this CPU

The eBay page I bought this board from says, "Tested to POST & enter BIOS without issue. BIOS updated to latest 1604 version. Good condition."
