I have a friend looking to turn his old rig into a living room pc on a $180-200 budget. Phenom x6 1100t at stock speed, 8gb ddrr3, 800 watt psu, 1 TB hdd. What would be a good gpu to add in? I have a fairly similar setup (except 16 gb ddr3, 700 watt psu, ssd, 1100t oc @ 3.8 ghz) with a gtx 960, and I'm tempted to just recommend the 960 since it works great for me, but there may be better ways to upgrade.

If he hasn't OC'ed the CPU, he can easily use the GTX 1050 Ti w/o bottleneck if he is a gamer. The GTX 1060, RX 570/580 would be fine, but he will experience some CPU bottleneck in some games at some times. Not a deal breaker (performance will still be better than the 1050 Ti), but he won't get full financial benefit of the faster cards at times.

Btw, tell him not to casually discard that 1100T. They are going for more used than they were sold for new. Just check ebay for prices.
