I got a laptop for testing overclocks. i7-4710HQ, 980M. I also use it when i go on holidays and need a PC with me. But im worried: I almost fried my GPU at 1520MHz, and my CPU was running hot af on 4.9GHz. I like overclocking, because theres always the danger of killing your components, and i like the feeling of a successful overclock, its statisfying. But is that too much? I can just buy a new PC if this one dies but its hard to find Haswell laptops in good condition.

Ocing a laptop is never a good idea since these are built to handle what it has + a bit more also the power brick of a laptop is usually just enough for it and increased power draw can kill the power delivery of the laptop or the brick.

Also why would you want another hasswell laptop after this one breaks and not just get a new one. Nvidia is now putting full (or slightly slower) desktop gpu's in their laptops and if you want their are a bunch of brands that are putting desktop cpu's in laptops too.
