Problems with my graphic card (?) or my motherboard (?)

Yesterday I started up the game H1Z1 but right at the start it crashed and with that my whole screen blurred out. I then restartet my pc to see what was going on, but I just couldn't get any video signal to post. It simply showed the message: Inappropriate mode recommended mode 1920x1080 60hz. I then started testing the monitor on another computer to see if it was still in tact, and it worked. I then tested the cable and it worked fine. So I then repositioned my graphics card into another slot and it magicaly worked fine. Except it didn't. After 20 minutes of playing a game that is not that graphic demanding it crashed again. And now both slots won't post a signal after the first windows logo thing. I then reinstalled windows but it didn't work (and I'm currently doing it again). I noticed some weird grapic bugs (e.g. 4 weird lines from the top to the bottom of the screen (vertical) or weird flashes). Thank you for your help.. :)

Yes if his card works on those slots it's even more likely that it is your card that has a problem.

Those wide lines are usually a sign of GPU problem. It's showing the lines during POSTing and in BIOS and there's no windows driver at work here yet that kind of rules out driver issues.

Maybe even overheating over a long time. Did you by any chance monitor your GPU temps before this happened?

Which HD 7700 is it, exact model? If the card is overheating now and not really damages (slim chance) maybe cleaning dust from cooling sink and/or applying new thermal grease to the GPU help but only if it's not dead and just overheating.

However, since you said it doesn't POST and boot with the card (at those stages it doesn't get really hot)...

What are full system specs please?

Test the graphic card on another system if possible, the graphic card seems to have died or be on its last breaths.

Also if possible test another graphic card on those slots that don't work with your own card.

RAM: 2x (2x4GB Corsair XMS3)
GPU: AMD Radeon HD7700 Series
HDD1: Seagate Barracuda 500 GB (irrelevant)
HDD2: Some Laptop Drive (also irrelevant)
SSD: Samsung SSD 830 Series
PSU: Thermaltake Hamburg 530W which I bought around 3 or 4 years ago

I already asked my friend if he could borrow me his old graphics card but I don't want his motherboard to die if I plug in mine into his pc..
I also thought that testing another gpu in my computer would be sufficient enough since, if the graphics card does work in both slots, I can be sure that it's my gpu.. :/

However, since you said it doesn't POST and boot with the card (at those stages it doesn't get really hot) and monitor gives not supported mode error message the graphic card is probably damaged/dead.

Yes, it was indeed my gpu..
But I don't think it was due to overheating since because I have always been very careful with things like that.
Computer components get old and that is what happend to my gpu... :(
I thank everyone for their contribution to my question :)

No problem, glad to help.

Yes it's a pity to lose components like that, then again as you said it's not the end of the world. MTBF and all that.

I wanted to make sure with a higher degree of certainty. Vertical lines/artifacts like that on still images are usually a sign of dying GPU/graphic card.
