WD My passport Ultra 2TB Target full

HI,

I'm having a issue with me WD My passport Ultra 2TB as it has stopped backing up and just says target full. I have a weekly back up of 950GB which leaves 912GB free on the drive, but for some reason the drive has stopped backing up both on schedule or manually and just returns the message target full.

I dont back up everything in my system but in total I only have a 1tb HD, a 500GB solid state and another 128GB solid state so even if I did the 2TB external should be able to handle the back up of all files.

Possibly some temp files or parts of older backups aren't being deleted?

Install and run WinDirStat to maybe discover where your space is going.

What tool are you using for these backups?

Hi USAFRet,

thanks for the reply, I have ran the WinDirStat and it shows that a total of 759GB 's are actually being used and all barr 1MB is being taken up by the current back up, this should leave 1.24TB's spare, it doesn't look like there is any old temp files etc... hiding on the drive, or at least none that should be causing me this issue.

I am just using the standard tools that are sent with the drive, WD unlocker and WDbackup, so far I've not tried it with another back up tool. would you say this is the next step?
