To start off.. In the future I plan on running 2 of these 1080 ftw2's. And I do not have a modular power supply.

System:

I7 6700k

Evga gtx 1080 ftw2 running at 2050core/5500mem

Corsair 450d woth corsair cx750 Psu

Asus z170 Pro Gaming Motherboard

16gb 3200 ddr4 G Skill V series ram

1 500gb ssd
1 1tb ssd
Both are Samsung 850 evos

3 140mm Corsair intake fans..2 in front 1 pulling in under the gpu

2 140mm corsair output fans up top.

1 120mm corsair output fan in back

Air movement is amazing in this tower..I cant even get my single 1080 to reach 70° at full load..never really even hits 60c.

Question: Ok..so this powersupply has 2 different cables coming out able with 6+2 connections.

Thing is..each cable has a tail on it with an additional 6+2 connector. So..I am powering the one gpu with one cable and its tail..is this ok?

2nd Question.. Someday I plan on running 2 of these cards for4k gaming.. Will I be able to with this current setup? And what HB Bridge would I need to get?

Thanksguys! Community at toms hardware has been a lot of help to me in thepast..easily best forums Ive been on for tech help :D!

The way you describe having this power hooked up seems correct.

There are multiple cables there for as you suspect SLI etc down the road.

The official PSU reqs for some cards.......I would always go a little bigger though personally ;)

GTX 1080 Ti SLI
850w

GTX 1080 Ti
600w

GTX 1080 SLI
750w

GTX 1080
520w

GTX 1070 Ti SLI
775w

GTX 1070 Ti
550w

GTX 1070 SLI
700w

Yeah..I will end up trying with this psu first..if it dies it dies..if it fails I upgrade..not too worried :). I did find some details that 750-850w is needed for the 1080 in sli.. So I was thinking since I am using the ftw2 cards..(which I believe draw less wattage if Im not mistaken) I would get by with the 750w
