Hello,

So my current PC died on me, and it's not the first time I've had to defibrillate it. Anyways the point is I've decided I've had enough with it and am going to build a new PC.

I'm generally using my PC for gaming, streaming, recording, game development and music production if that offers any influence as to which one I should get.

Any help is appreciated and if you could provide any supporting stats that'd be great. I have seen Linus' Tech Tips video on the comparison between the two so I'm sort of leaning towards the Ryzen but I've had major problems with AMD before, my dying PC was on AMD and I sort of wanted to move away from it.

Thanks in advance.

So I'm looking at two versions currently, version 1:

  • CPU: i7 7700K
CPU Fan: Corsair - H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
    GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080 8GB
    MOBO: ASUS Prime Z270-P
    RAM: 32GB
    Storage: 500GB SSD and a 2TB SSHD
PSU: EVGA 80 PLUS White 600W
or version 2:

  • CPU: iRyzen 7 1700X
CPU Fan: Corsair - H100i V2 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
    GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080 8GB
    MOBO: ASUS Prime X370-PRO
    RAM: 16GB
    Storage: 128GB SSD and a 2TB SSHD
    PSU: Corsair RMx 850W

I'm sure I will be flamed for this lol......

If you can afford it.... Go INTEL.

I absolutely respect Linus, however like you.....I have had far too many problems with AMD stuff in the past.

Yes Intel is more expensive.....however it has, for me, caused the least headaches too.

I was looking at a i7-8700k but I gave up cause I can't find them anywhere, the only one was a bunch of pre binned ones I found on I Overclockers and it was limited stock, and now they're sold out. The only one I can see is a pre order :(
