I am looking to upgrade my GPU from an MSI Rx470 during the cryptocurrency price hike, and I can't decide which card to go with. I've found a Zotac 1070 for ~$400 USD, and an EVGA 1060 SSC 6gb for slightly under $300. I will be pairing the card with an i5 6600k overclocked to 4.2Ghz. The games I will be playing are mostly titles like Destiny 2, Fallout 4 (with graphical mods), PUBG, For Honor, Star Citizen, etc. At the moment, I only have a 1080p 60hz monitor, but I would like to play at 1440p sometime soon. How much of a performance gain will I get with $100 more for the 1070?

Full Specs:

CPU - i5 6600k @ 4.2Ghz

GPU - MSI Rx470 Armor OC

RAM - 16gb Geil Evo Potenza DDR4 2400mhz (2x8gb dual channel)

Mobo - Asus z170p (upgrading soon)

Storage - 2x256 ADATA SSD in RAID 0, 500gb Samsung 5200 rpm HDD

CPU cooler - Cryorig H7

PSU - 550w Seagate 80+ gold

Solution
If you want to save some cash and dont plan on keeping the card for more than 1-2y, get the cheapest 1060/3gb with a power plug and twin fan cooler.
See if you can find an open box/used one on amazon/local microcenter.
(I would prefer one of those: any msi gaming/zotac amp/asus strix, or maybe a evga (one with 2 power connectors)

If you want to keep the card +3-4y and have the cash, the 1070 will allow for decent 1440p performance,
but the ti would make more sense as its as fast as a 1080 stock when limiters for power/temp are raised to max (msi afterburner).

I installed/used everything from 1050 to 1070, so i can tell from experience running them..
