So I have been having an issue with my internet connection over the past few days. Whenever I am playing a game that has internet connectivity such as Forza 7 or CSGO, I start experiencing network drops. It will drop for a few seconds once or twice and then drops completely, with the only fix being to restart my computer. If I stop playing the game, the issue does not go away. The issue also doesn't happen at all as long as I am not playing an online game, even if if I am playing a game without internet connectivity. It is not an ISP issue as it doesn't happen on any other computer in my house the WiFi in the house is unaffected. Sometimes the Windows says that I am not connected to the internet but other times it says that no Ethernet cable is connected. I am thinking it might be a motherboard issue as I am not using an additional network card but does anyone have any other guesses as to what the culprit might be?

Solution
Sounds like your NIC is going bad.

Do you get your IP address via DHCP or do you have it setup manually?

Try updating your network drivers.

Reset your network adapter "winsock reset" in command prompt.

Hard Reset your network devices, Select the Start button, then select Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network reset.
On the Network reset screen, select Reset now > Yes to confirm.
Wait for your PC to restart and see if that fixes the problem."

I had the exact same thought as you so I tried all of that. Nothing has helped so I ordered a network card. My motherboard is five years old and I have been using it pretty much nonstop so I'm not surprised that the NIC is going bad. I'll update tomorrow after I install the card. Thanks for the help.
