Guys i want to make change with my GTX960 2GB for Asus Turbo GTX970
The 970 has only one blower fan and one 8pin power.

Im using Antec VP450P 450W Real power that has only one 6pin pcie connector
+12V1= 18A +12V2= 18A
I want to use my 6pin + dual molex to 6pin and plug that to 8pin converter

PC Spec:
Intel Core i5 3470 3.2GHz CPU
(2X4GB) Kingston Hyper X 1600MHz RAM
Gigabyte GTX960 Mini ITX
MB Foxcon H61MXE-V
2x Seagate 500GB HDD
SSD Kingston UV400 240GB
2x LED fans

Does it worth to risk?
I will not buy new psu

Solution
450W is not enough power. 500W minimum for a 970. Your system *MIGHT* run under load, but you are cutting it incredibly close.

You say you don't want to buy a new PSU, but if you want to run that card you're going to need either a really good 500W PSU or a decent 550W-600W PSU.

If you have to use an adapter, I would not suggest it. It's 30a combined so it technically is above the 28a recommended. Full load wouldn't be above 300w so it's not too much load for the psu either. The change from a 960 to 970 wouldn't be worth the cost unless you got it very cheap.

Well.

In the Nvidia official page, the recommended MINIMUM psu power for a GTX 970 WITH an i7 at 3.2ghz (no generation specified) is 500w.

Lets do some math.

i5 3470 will draw under heavy load 170 watts
GTX 970 will draw 145 Watts TOPS
2 HDD 20 watts
1 SDD 5 watts
2 Fans 10 watts
plus RAM memory, and peripherals connected to your PC 30, watts.

That totals 380 watts roughly, WORST CASE SCENARIO, but still possible.

your PSU is 450 watts with an efficiency of 85%, wich leaves you with 382 watts.

But HEY! lets check the energy draw from you current GPU, the GTX 960 draws... 120 watts, yes, "only" 25 watts difference, and most of us will tell you that even with your current GPU is very tight, and yet, there you are!. How long have you been using the GTX960?

take a look at this video, this guy has a PC that draws a lot more than yours, he stressed (even punished) his system with benchmarks and he had peaks of 360 watts during his tests.

Up to you, sorry no real answer
