Well yeah guys i wanna get my new pc build ram gskill rpi jaws v 3200
cpu i7 7700 and the mobo is z270 a pro my question is i have read about the system acutally ,,slowing" down ram when you first start it so lets say i have the 3200 ram and it puts my speed to 2400 and is it safe for me to put it back to 3200 or will it cause some bad things to happen...i dont want to go above 3200 just wanna reach the amount my ram is supposed to handle...and another question if i do this will i have to overclock the cpu too because i think i cant cause its the non ,,k" version and also if one wants to overclock the graphics card do you also have to overclock the cpu or you can do it cepeeatly...thanks in advance...nice day to everyone

Solution
Just enable XMP in the BIOS and the memory will run at 3200mhz. You would need the K version of the CPU to overclock it and no you can overclock the graphics card independently.
Do you mean I7-7700 or I7-7700K?

If the K, with overclocking, you will be increasing voltages, and at some point, to get ram speeds past 2400, you will need to increase ram voltage past the standard 1.2v.
I have found that this impacts the ability to get the max overclock.

If you are using the non overclockable i7-7700, just pick the faster XMP profile that suits you.
