Better cooling, still stuttering and crashing.

So my motherboard, from what people have been saying to me, has bad VRM cooling. So I got a new fan and pointed it towards it. I did a test on Cinebench. Max Temp was 43C and the speed was stable. So I was like "HECK YEAH, IT ACTUALLY WORKED!" Then when I went to go play games for not even 5 minutes, it's starts to drag badly. Game I tested was Bo3 (since it's so badly optimized, but it's my favorite game.) The game crashed, not my pc, and I was upset. When I leave everything stock, the game DOES NOT crash. I don't get it. I did what I was told and I still can't get a stable stupid overclock. Also, when I check my 3rd and 4th core, they're at 2.0ghz. Is that because I've disabled c6, apm, cTDP, or something along those lines? I'm so confused and I would love someone to help me.

EDIT: To get my temps and everything, I've used Core Temp (I don't know if this is accurate or not. If not, someone tell me another program). I used CPU-Z for my speeds.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-F2A68HM-H
PSU: 750W Thermaltake 80+ Bronze
CPU: A10 6800k (Richland)
GPU: GTX 970
RAM: 16GB
STORAGE: 2TB HDD

Solution
How high you can oc will depend on the quality of your chip.
I think 4.6 may be a bit optimistic.

All Z97 motherboards will do a decent job of overclocking.
Any differences will be very minor.

So basically I have to upgrade? Would a i7-4790k at least make some improvements? My friend is getting an upgrade and I'm taking his old stuff.

Was thinking of overclocking the 4790k at about 4.6ghz. I think his mobo will support it. He wanted to get the latest stuff and the best at that time.

EDIT: Think this is a good overclocking mobo?: MSI Z97-GAMING 5 ATX LGA1150

Idk, I've seen some people go as high as 4.9ghz. Oh well, we'll see.
