Dear members,

I have come for your help!
I`ll make it quick and short.
My mobo: MSI MS-7616

Problem:
Okay so, I have 2x2gb DDR3 1333MHZ ram in my computer,adding a total of 4 gb ram with an i3 530.So I borrowed 2x4gb DDR3 1333MHZ ram from my friends computer to test. I boot the computer and the startup and bios recognize the amount of ram installed (in this case 12GB). So here`s where the tear dropping starts;
1. Computer freezes up completely at the mobo "Medion" screen
2. If I pass the Medion screen then the computer hangs at the windows 10 boot screen.
3. I get an error at the Windows boot screen: System thread Exception not handled.
4. BSOD (IRQL_not_less_or_equal)

I also note that if I take out the 2x4GB ram I borrowed from my friend out of my computer then it works flawlessly. But if I reinsert the 2x4GB ram sticks the problems co-exist. If I generally use my 2x2GB ram there are no problems. My friends rams work, because he took them out of his working computer. I also cannot enter safe mode while using 2x4gb rams.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Is the MS-7616 a OEM board? Was it from a prebuilt system? I cant find any specs on it from MSI. Motherboard manufactures have a memory support list which has all of the compatible memory.

Have you tried just running the new RAM and leaving your old RAM out of the system? Make sure you are putting the RAM in the correct slots as that matters. The new RAM may work fine in your system, it just does not play well with the RAM you already have.

If the new RAM does not work at all even when the old RAM is there, then I would contact MSI and ask if they can provide a compatibility list or an upgrade option for more RAM.

If you cant get information from MSI (which wont surprise me) then another 2x2gb kit may work, but it may not...

Sounds like the memory isn't completely compatible with your motherboard or other set. A BIOS update may fix this but typically you want to add in a matching set.

Also if your running Windows make sure the OS is 64-bit, if it's only 32-bit it won't utilize anything above 4gb.

RAM can be very finicky. Mixing and matching RAM does not always work, even if you use the same model number of RAM. This is why RAM is sold in kits. Each stick is tested together to ensure they work well together.

You option here is to get a new kit of RAM and sell you old sticks.

I am running on WIndows 10 pro 64-bit on the latest version, and BIOS. My 2x2Gb are seperate branded. The 2x4GB are two Kingmaxs exact same model. Is it worth getting another 2x2 pair and adding it in with my 2x2gb to see if it works?

What is the guarantee if I buy another kit, it will be compatible with my pc? Because clearly, the two kingmax isn't compatible with my MOBO. Is there any reliable source, that states compatibility with motherboards?

If you try the 2x4gb on their own they should work. What I believe is the problem is you are trying to use 2 different kits (2x2gb) + (2x4gb). Each kit should work on its own, however when you use both kits there is no guarantee they will not conflict with each other which seems to be what is happening here.

Even buying 2 identical kits is not guaranteed they will work together, though they should work independently. Only RAM sticks bought as a matched kit are guaranteed to work together.
