Hello, I am getting a ryzen 1700 (non x or x?) And I was trying to find out what the preformance difference is, a lot of people say it's basically the same CPU just different clock speeds, but is it the same preformance if there both clocked to the same speeds? A lot of people said that 4.1 ghz is the average for max clock speed on these processors, I am using an ASRock Fatal1ty Professional Gaming (X370). Thanks

If you are going to be overclocking get the 1700, the moment you start OCing you disable XFR (which is on the X models and allows for a slightly faster frequency non OCed)
If you arent OCing the 1700x will be slightly faster due to XFR but it isn't that noticable.

Performance-wise, there's no difference. An 1800x OC'd to 4Ghz would also perform the same; however, according to some reviews, the power consumption of an OC'd 1700 might be higher, but the consensus is that its not enough to warrant the premium. The X series are mainly for those who don't intend to manually overclock...at least not initially. I've got a 1700x and haven't overclocked yet, eventually I will though.
