Hello,

I'm currently using a 27" 1080p HP 60 Hz monitor and I'm trying to find a new monitor by Boxing Week.

My budget is about $1000 CAD (preferably $500 and under).
Based on my specs, what type of monitor should I get?
I was thinking about getting a 1080p G Sync monitor. I don't know if I should go with a 1440p monitor. I don't know any other benefits besides better quality. More FPS? Not sure.
My must have is that it must be 27", 144 Hz+, and that it's IPS. I don't want the size to be much different than my current one.

I play indies, shooters, and AAA titles.
Any suggestions/recommendations are welcomed.

Edit: Perhaps explain to me the benefits having 1440p monitor vs 1080p based on my specs.

Specs:

Okay, I'm thinking about getting a 1440p monitor. Will I still be able to run my games at 70+fps with almost max to max settings in the latest AAA titles when playing in 1440p with my GPU (is my GPU underwhelming for 1440p)? Also, is there another monitor (similar specs) that's closer to the preferred price that you would recommend?

There's a few other that are similar but I went with that Acer as it supports Gsync which will reduce/eliminate screen tearing and keep everything smooth.

You will probably need to adjust the graphics down to med-high if you want to keep the FPS high, heck even my 1080 ti dips under 100 FPS on a few games at Ultra such as the Division/Wildlands at 1080P. But look at this way, your monitor should be your least upgraded part so even if you 1070 struggles now there will eventually be a card that can fully max out the settings at 165hz and this type of monitor should last at least 5-7 years. I kind of regretted buying a 1080P monitor last year especially with the 1440P or ultra monitors that are out now.

Hmm. So far, I have my eyes set for the monitor you've recommended. I won't be upgrading my PC for while since I've built this PC this year. I had this monitor for as long as I can remember. I'll see if anyone else comes up with other suggestions.

Sorry for the late update: I have decided to get the monitor during Black Friday and have picked the following:

ViewSonic XG2703-GS 27" 165Hz IPS WQHD 1440p
ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q
XB271HU
XB270HU
AOC AG271QG (Maybe)

Which would you suggest I get out of these?

Just an update: I decided to go with the PG278QR TN Panel because I didn't want to risk backlight bleeding or IPS glow, and was able to save $250 CAD during Black Friday. It came with the QC and the colour were very close to the PG279Q. I don't why but sometimes during under load, my monitor sometimes blinks into standby mode (judging by the colour) and the way I normally fix it is by unplugging it for only 30 seconds and plugging it back in (using) DisplayPort from the box. Is there a way to fix this?

Try unplugging the monitor and PC from the power source for about a minute, reconnect them and turn them back on. See if that helps but if not you may want to post this question as a new thread on the forum or if the display is faulty consider a return/RMA.
