I'm buying some components for my budget build right now from a local internet shop, one of which is a power supple. Which one of these is the most decent on (i'm aware that they are not good compared to some higher-priced quality units). I dont plan on overclocking or anything, just a home/casual gaming build. Here are the options:

ZALMAN ATX2.31 DUAL FORWARD 500W
FORTRON ATX 2.3 500W 85+
CORSAIR VS450
TECNOWARE CORE HE 500W
THERMALTAKE TR2 450W

Only one with decent reviews on newegg is the thermaltake one.
Thanks for help.

What are the specs of the system you're looking to run from these units?

As far as I can tell, only the VS450 and TR2 even have an 80+ certification and, while 80+ doesn't guarantee quality in any way - units not even submitted are generally extremely poor. I've never heard of Fortron or Tecnoware, so they're most likely generic units, more akin to a doorstop than a power supply.

The VS450 is a very budget unit, and the TR2 has a couple of 450W options - one Bronze, one Gold rated. The Gold unit appears to actually be decent. Essentially this PSU, but branded by Thermaltake:

The Bronze version is quite poor though.

For a very basic system, the VS or TR2...

For a very basic system, the VS or TR2 would be ok. When you get in to "gaming" though, your GPU power draw can potentially highlight the instability of basic units.

Do you have any other options? "the best" unit out of that list isn't going to be remotely "good", just less bad.

Well there is CHIEFTEC GPS ATX2.3 80+ 500W and i could also try to get a EVGA 430/500 W1 (non-bronze) from a different store.
