Geforce GTX 1050 - where do the pins go?

So I've got my eyes set on this little beauty:

Unfortunately, he doesn't show me pictures of the top of the card ... you know, the part where I plug the 6 and 8-pin cables from the power supply into it?

Does this thing take only a single, 6-pin? Or does it take two 6-pins? Or does it take a 6-pin and an 8-pin? Or perhaps, two 8-pins?

Generally the 1050 and 1050ti do not need additional power, they draw all they need from the bus.

GTX 1050 does not need more power , it takes the power it needs from the slot.

but this is a bad card for this price .. dont buy it

not worth it. look for GTX 1050 ti with 4GB GDDR5 at least used for that price.

Also, isn't this supposed to be a very advanced graphics card? I always thought, as long as the prefix (e.g. "Geforce GTX" or "AMD Radeon") was the same, higher number = better.

So isn't this a huge upgrade from my current card, which is a Geforce GTX 750ti?

So how can it be so good without needing to draw power directly from the power supply? I always thought that was the reason the ATX 12V port exists on the motherboard; because CPUs became so advanced that it became necessary to funnel power directly to it!

How can a graphics card be better ... and yet require less power? It doesn't make sense! Isn't that like somebody having bigger and stronger muscles, but requiring less protein! It literally defies the laws of physics!

The 750ti is close to a match for the 1050 (not TI).

It is slightly more complicated than that, that only applies within the same generation. For example, a GTX 1060 is faster than a GTX 1050. However from the last gen of cards, a GTX 970 is faster than a GTX 1050. A GTX 780ti is equal to a GTX 970 which is equal to a gtx 1060. So in a way the system is a bit misleading if you don't know any better.

Efficiency. Its more like people lifting heavy loads, one uses pulleys and the other doesn't. The one who uses a pulley system does the same work but with less effort and can do more work with the same amount of effort on their part.

It comes down to the metric "IPC" or instructions per clock. This is harder to define on graphics cards but on a CPU it defines how many operations can be done per cycle of the internal clock. This is why you see CPUs with lower clock speeds than previous generations but they are significantly faster, its about efficiency.

Pure performance isn't the only thing to think about when getting a new graphics card. New technologies are incorporated as well. I couldn't in good conscience recommend anything older than the 900 series right now.

That card doesn't have an external power connector. It only draws 75 watts, which your PCIe slot can support itself.

But that isn't a good price for a used one. For 120.00 you can get a brand new one.

Bo Lee you mis-identified The 4gb card you linked to; it is not the same card but a model higher (the 1050 vs the better 1050ti). The TI is definitely the one to get in this price class.

Definitely go with the GTX 1050 TI. It will suit your needs fine and does not require a 6 or 8 pin connection.

No, that is what I meant to do. I don't think they even make a standard 1050 with 4GB do they? All I have ever seen was a TI with 4GB. I think the 1050 is always 2GB and the TI is 4GB. I have never seen a 4GB 1050 or s 2GB TI. I may have have just overlooked them, but that was my understanding.
