I have a Strix RX 470 4gb, it has only a 6 pin pcie connector. I watched one vid on overclocking this card, it was in another language but had english subtitles. Anyway, the guy said that because it only has 6 pins it cant do +50% so he said the most i should do is +25%. is he correct? what is the safe limit for a 6 pin, i want to oc and undervolt slightly.

thank you anyone who helps :)

In terms of the safe amperage for the cables/connectors of a 6 pin power connector, they could easily, safely draw at least twice the 75W PCIe rating. And it's not like you're actually going to draw 50% more power unless you're doing hardcore overclocking. If you undervolting, you may even reduce power.

please read reviews of your specific graphics card from reputable gaming websites, NOT the youtube comments of someone with unknown reputation. for example: guru3d reported they achieved a max [stable] boost clock rate of 1.35 MHz and memory clock of 7.00 MHz. You'll do a lot better to pay attention to this sort of data than those arbitrary youtube videos.

Btw, you did see the tomshardware review of over a year ago, right? Did you notice their comments about temperatures on the card? anything over 90 degrees [C] -- which did happen in their tests -- surely strikes me as good reason to NOT overclock at all. You've got plenty serious risk of burning out some of the power supply components as is. And, as you've probably guessed, overclocking voids the warranty, so a dead card is dead money.
