Hey guy, I have an old computer from 2005. I just want to know beside a graphics card, what do I need to do to it, to make it run modern games. It has a ddr3 Asus m2n-e motherboard and running on windows 7, amd athlon 64x2, 8gb ram 250gb hard drive. And a 550 watt power box. I’m not looking to run 4k, I just want to achieve 60fps, I was looking at buy a GTX 1060 graphics card.

Solution
To play modern titles at 60fps you will need a new CPU, motherboard, ram and GPU and possibly a new PSU. There is only so much you can do with a 12 year old processor.

Which 64x2 do you have? A 6400+ is a lot faster than, say, a 3400+, so it makes a difference. Unless you're making a significant CPU/platform upgrade as well, I don't see you getting any real benefit beyond a 750 Ti or if it's one of the slower Athlon 64s, a GT 1030.
