Help in buying a graphics card

Hi,
I am a gamer and wanted to buy a graphics card. Please suggest me some of the cheap 6 or 8gb(more preferable). Is amd rx580 8gb better than gtx 1060. My budget is $309.86. Please help

I will get 1060 6gb due to it consumes less power but perform similarly, 6gb is enough for the power of both cards, 8gb is not necessary.

Depending on your monitor, if 1080p 60hz, no diff between 1060 and 1070. If 1080p 144Hz, then 1070 is better.

CPU is a little bit weak. Can you list all your specs including monitor? What games do you play and total budget on upgrade? Living in US?

Depends on the games but an i3 2120 is too weak for modern AAA games. The cpu is just as important as the gpu.

Your old CPU (which was lower end back in 2011) will limit the frame rate. Anything more than a GTX 1050Ti would be wasted on your computer, so no point buying better unless you plan to build a new system soon and want to buy a good GPU now.

RAM(memory):ramaxel 1x2gb (preinstalled) earlier,upgraded it to 1x8gb (crucial ddr3)
Graphics Card:Sapphire Radeon R5230 2gb (was not preinstalled)
Hard Disk: Seagate Barracuda ST3320413AS 320 GB Internal Hard Drive

Also when i looked into bios, my RAM was running @1330mhz instead of 1600mhz

Yes, it probably can, but putting a good GPU in isn't going to increase it, you'll still be 30-40fps, that's why I said a GTX 1050Ti would be the most your computer can handle.

Be careful with your expectations, GTA V was released in 2013 and while cpu heavy for the time its fairly average now. In the latest cpu heavy games your cpu simply won't give playable frame rates regardless of gpu. It is a long way under the minimum spec of many modern games.

As long as you appreciate this and set your expectations accordingly then you are ok.

That upgrade is so small its not worth. Unless you can get an i5 or i7 dirt cheap I would hang on to your money until ready to upgrade to a modern platform. It rarely makes sense to spend any money on such an old platform.

Best to buy is a 1050 Ti (140-150$) and keep your money to upgrade your CPU, it will bottleneck anything obove that.

Xeons are server processors with ecc and are hence costlier. Will getting an i3 3245 or 40 be a good choice as they are of third generation.
