my current graphic cards tdp is 55w. I've heard that the dvd drive takes around 20w, if I remove the dvd drive will i be able to have a 75w graphics card?

Solution
which CPU do you have ? and can you tell me the Ampere on 12V on your power supply?

If you have 65 watts CPU then you can use 75 watts GPU , given your power supply is good on 12V .

if it is 90 - 100 watts , then no.

Removing the DVD will not help you get more watts because you dont run the DVD all the time anyways , just when you install programs.

still depends on his PC specs , and power supply .. General talking without calculating the watt does not help. he is talking about 20 watts difference only .. and his 55 watts GPU is working fine , so one can assume his PC components are very few and low power.

Can anyone help me with my upgrade?
my pc model is HP Slimline Desktop - 450-160hk
CPU i5 4460T
GPU Radeon R5 330
8GB DDR3
I want to upgrade to a RX550/560D as I found a good deal on those
RX560D for the prize of a GT1030(about $35)
Also should I take the 1030 GDDR5, RX560D, or the RX550?
all are 2GB versions and i game at 1360x768
P.S. I found a RX550 4GB in a similar prize range, should i go for it?

Start a new thread with all the specs (including the exact power supply) on a new thread with a description of your goals and your budget rather than jumping into a random, unrelated thread from nearly a year and a half ago.
