Hi, yesterday i bought Rainbow Six Siege from G2A and added it to Steam. When installing it, it first appeared "Allocating Disk Space", it stopped at the half and my PC started to make weird noises maybe from Hard Disk. The Steam freezed itself and after a couple of seconds the PC aswell but i could move my corsair. After a minute or so my PC crashed.
My Specs:
i7-960 Default speed 3.2GHz to 3.4GHz
Alienware MoBo
12GB RAM DDR3 1336MHz
MSI GTX 1060 6GB
HardDisk of 1terrabite
525Watts PSU
It only crashes when I downlaod something from steam, when I am not downloading and just seeing games from Steam Store nothing happens.
Please Help me It's frustrating.

Solution
You more than likely need to download the motherboard drivers for your system. These typically include usb drivers that will then operate properly when the computer starts, instead of when windows loads and installs a driver to handle it. It will also contain drivers for network and motherboard specific features that won't work otherwise. You can open device manager and look for yellow exclamation points in the list. More than likely, they will all be resolved by installing the MB driver pack.

Are you installing to the same hard drive as your OS and is your drive full? The only logical explanation is there's a disk writer problem and it's crapping out. Are you using Steam beta or latest official?

try downloading something large that doesn't come from steam to see if the issue is still there.
Like mentioned, Id start by running some integrity tests on the drive to make sure it isn't starting to fail. Most drive manufacturers have free tools for this on their website and will be more reliable than the windows utility.
If that checks out ok, you can try a program like revo uninstaller that removes all traces of an install, which might be causing issues if it is ONLY occurring with steam downloads. Finally, run a virus scan to rule that out as a possibility.

You might also be installing a windows update. Services and programs will sometimes stop behaving properly as the new update is applied, which means writing to the disk without your knowledge. If the computer is always on and it's been more than a few hours of high disk use, I would not think this to be the case.

You mentioned the other got halfway before it froze. Give this one time to finish completely and ensure it loads the game after. If that works, then try opening a command prompt as admin (search for cmd, then right click the result and "run as admin")
In the command prompt window, type:
sfc /scannow
and let it run. This checks for any system file corruption and repairs it which may fix your issue.
Try these and get back to us.

One more thing... If you think there's something that is using 100% of the drive, have you opened resource monitor to see WHAT was using it all? Things are broken down by task there with how much read and write each process is using. Finding the name of that process could help tremendously to finding the cause.

look at disk use. Click the read column and it sorts highest to lowest use for processes reading from disk.
Clicking write in the table will order high to low by processes writing to the disk.
Look for anything using extremely large amounts of activity ( read and or writes) and get the name of that process. then we can figure out what it is.
