Hi

I'm thinking about upgrading my motherboard, memory and CPU.

This is my current setup:
Intel Core i7-4770K - Clocked to 4.2ghz
ASUS Z87-A, Socket-1150
GTX 1070
16 GB 1600mhz memory.

My question is: Would I get much performance boost by buying i7-7700k and faster ram ? Like 3000mhz. ?
Atm I play destiny 2 and, I can see on benchmarks that it is very CPU demanding.

I play on a 120hz monitor and fps can drop down to 60-70 from 130+.

Solution
1 . you can overclock the CPU more (even if you need to buy a new cooler for it). with your MB, it should be no problem to go past 4.5Ghz
2. you can overclock the memory - at least to around 1866-2133Mhz
after those changes, the 7700K would have may be 10% in a very few games. most of them will run about the same.
so just for gaming, don't waste your money.
Though a i7-8700K + Z370 board can be considered an upgrade. And even that, more in a long term than immediate benefit.
Just wait for whatever will be released next year.
There is about a 10-15% difference between the two CPUs. In my opinion, I would not change anything. Faster RAM will not do much to give you better fps as Intel CPUs do not scale well with fast RAM.

What GPU do you have? For a gaming machine, you always want to spend more on a GPU than a CPU. You will see much better increase in gaming performance. So I would keep the 4770k and use the money on a really good GPU.

I got GTX 1070, i don't think a GPU will do much. Changing graphics ingame don't do much, I really think my cpu is bottle-necking. Thanks for the reply.

Mainly Overwatch and Destiny 2. Overwatch runs great, 240fps. But Destiny 2 gives me some fps spikes. I run that game at LOW and it doesn't change much if i turn things graphics up a bit. Would like that game to stay at 120+ all time. You think should get a better GPU then ? Ty for reply.

Res = 1920x1080.
CPU never goes above 80% while gaming, GPU also goes max 80%.

Ssd OCZ vertex3 for windows, and WDC 10000rpm for gaming disk.

Your not using your current CPU at 100% and you are considering getting another one. Don't do it. Save your money. If your CPU was bottlenecking your system, then you would have very high CPU usage and low GPU usage. If you want to spend money on a better gaming experience, get a 1440p monitor. Running a 1070 on a 1080p panel is like driving a Ferrari in a school zone all day. If you move to a higher resolution, your CPU will matter even less as at higher resolution the stress is moved from the CPU to the GPU.

Ive tried overclocking more, I don't think my CPU can get past 4.2, its what I'm running now at voltage 1.3. I have a H110 cooler and the temperature isn't a problem. Never tried overclocking ram, maybe ill try that for now. Thank you
