The setup -- A PC, currently with no soundcard/boards or no USB boards.

I have a ps4 setup nearby, currently connected to my main monitor via HDMI / Elgato HD60 When outputting sound from the console to the PC desktop sounds, there is a delay/or lag of close to 100 - 600 ms Varies depending on length of time the device was used.

I'm looking for a better way to output sound from my PS4 to the PC so I can listen to desktop sound as well as in game sound on the console. Also for potential future Live streaming reasons as well.

Before I go in and purchase a bunch of random hardware and download a bunch of software.. I was hoping for some good advice on this. I've never messed with PC soundcards before, but so far most of what I've seen only consist of Outputs, and not inputs that I need. The only option I have seen currently for routing sound to the pc from the PS4 is through the Digital optical Audio port, but I'm hesitant to purchase any Devices I've seen such as Various digital audio adaptors I've seen out there.

To reiterate, the main reason I am looking, is to avoid the issues with Audio Latency as even at 100ms after video itself, it's painfully obvious when playing games.

*** If you also have any advise for Better capture cards or alternatives that either produce little input/audio latency or consistently low latency, I could look at, that might be appreciated as well

** Don't worry about asking for budget just throw the ideas at me, I'll figure out what I can afford later.

** I have little experience with Audio, soundboards, mixers and such, so any information you can link or provide in your reply is greatly appreciated

It sounds like the capture card is adding delay on it's end. If this is the case, you'd probably need to do something like:

PS4 -> PC Optical Input -> Soundcard -> Soundcard Output (doesn't matter how) -> Speakers

I had a similar setup in the past, and didn't notice any significant delay. Any soundcard that has an optical input should be able to handle this without issue. Just keep in mind SPDIF format limitations (Stereo, Dolby, or DTS).

The current Connection is through HDMI Capture Card known as the Elgato HD60

The audio comes through the HDMI cord and then through the USB that connects to the pc before it hits the monitor, sends it to combine with Desktop Audio, which... is another problem of it's own since it's tedious to balance sound out as well when it does that.

That's what I'm looking for, I do not have an Optical Input on the pc so I'm looking for devices that might be available to use that could help

Any decent sound card would take the spdif optical output and play audio to speakers of your choice. I use a soundblaster recon 3d, but any card will work

This one would do nicely https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102053&cm_re=soundblaster-_-29-102-053-_-Product
