Hey, I'm using an old iMac from mid 2010 as a secondary Device and it comes with 2x2 GB of RAM clocked at 1333 mHz. I also happen to have an old notebook laying around and took its 2x2 GB 1066 mHz RAM cards and put them into the iMac. Everything works properly and the iMac reports 8 Gigs of RAM available.

My question is if I should keep it like this or should I downgrade back to the original setup. Thank you!

i have an iMac 27 see specs: Apple iMac "Core i5" 2.8 27-Inch (Mid-2010) Specs Identifiers: Mid-2010 - MC511LL/A - iMac11,3 - A1312 - 2390. https://everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/specs/imac-core-i5-2.8-27-inch-aluminum-mid-2010-specs.html
you can check out this website for any possible upgrades for you iMac. I have recently upgraded my iMac27's RAM from 4GB to 20 GB (2x8GB & 2x2GB = 20GB) and my old defective HDD 1TB (oem) to SSD 750GB from Crucial MX300... remove my DVD SuperDrive and purchased a SATA HDD/SSD Adapter and put on a 500GB HDD as additional internal storage. It runs fast, good as new and even better than before.

TAKE NOTE: the RAM speed will be set to maximum depending on the TYPE of RAM module specs used:

PC3-10600...
